If you've spent enough time in the metaverse, you've probably witnessed someone ask, "You on Quest or PC?"
Maybe at a virtual event or in a game lobby.
Both Quest and PCVR users show up. And all of a sudden everyone had an opinion.
Someone mentions graphics and another mentions cables. Before long, the debate is in full swing.
The funny thing is that most of it is done with a smile. Because despite the occasional teasing, both groups are a part of the same community.
Let's talk about the friendly rivalry.
Meet The Questies

Quest users have one major superpower: Convenience.
There's no complicated setup, no cables all over the room, no expensive gaming PC, you just put on the headset and you're ready to go. That's actually one of the main reasons why the metaverse is more accessible than ever before.
Quest users often say: "Why spend twenty minutes or so setting things up when you can already be hanging out with friends?"
And honestly?
It's a fair point.
Meet The PCVR Crowd

If Quest users value convenience, PCVR users often value performance.
They love:
- Higher graphical fidelity
- More customization
- Advanced hardware
- Enhanced immersion
- Fine-tuning setups
Squeezing every bit of performance out of their setup is part of the fun for many PCVR users. They've spent time building, upgrading, and optimizing their systems and yes.. they're very proud of it.
The Great Graphics Debate
At some point, every Questie hears, "But have you seen it on PC?" and every PCVR user hears, "But I can play anywhere."
The graphics discussion is practically a tradition at this point.
PCVR users appreciate visual quality while Questies appreciate portability.
Both sides have valid arguments, they both believe they're right and will probably continue debating it forever.
The Cable Joke Never Dies
PCVR users joke about Quest graphics and Quest users joke about cables.
You'll hear things like, "At least I don't need to be plugged into a wall" or "At least my trees don't look like cardboard." Nobody is safe but that's part of the rivalry fun.
The Thing Both Sides Agree On
The debate usually disappears at some point.
Nobody asks, "What headset you on?" when you're laughing with friends, exploring new worlds, attending events, creating a world or building communities. You're all just people sharing an experience. The headset becomes secondary, the connections become primary.
Why I Personally Use Both
I use both PCVR and a Quest headset.
And while I appreciate the power and flexibility that PCVR offers, I find myself reaching for my headset way more often.
Why?
Because it's immersive.
There's just something about putting on a headset and feeling fully present that a PC screen simply can't replicate.
When I'm using a headset, I feel more connected to the experience, the environment and the people around me. That doesn't mean one is better than the other, it's just a different experience.
Sometimes I want the convenience and immersion of a headset and other times I want the flexibility of PCVR. They both have a place, and honestly, I'm grateful to have access to both. Maybe that's why I find the Questie vs PCVR debate so entertaining. Because from where I'm standing, both sides make good points.
Questies And PCVR Users Need Each Other
![]()
Virtual communities grow when more people participate.
Quest made the metaverse more accessible to more people and PCVR continues pushing technical innovation forward.
Both contribute something important.
Without Quest users, many communities would be much smaller and without PCVR users, many technical advancements wouldn't happen as quickly. So both groups help shape the future of VR.
The Real Winner
After all the debates, memes, jokes, and friendly arguments, there's one thing most VR enthusiasts eventually realize:
The best headset is the one that gets you in there.
Whether you're using a Quest, a PCVR setup, Mixed Reality, a smartphone, or whatever comes next.
What matters is what you do once you're there, the friendships you build, the communities you create or join, the worlds you explore or build and the memories you create.
Final Thoughts
The Questie vs PCVR debate will probably never disappear and that's okay. A little friendly rivalry keeps things interesting.
Just remember..
At the end of the day, we're all a part of the same community; explorers, creators, metaverse citizens.
And whether you're carrying a headset in a backpack or running a computer that sounds like a spaceship taking off, we're glad you're here.
Personally, I care less about what you're using and more about what you're creating, who you're helping, and the memories you're making while you're in there.
